🌊 Southpaw Furry Weekend Crowdfunding Update! 🌴

As of this post being written, Southpaw Furry Weekend has reached 53.7% of it's funding goal! After receiving feedback from the community, we are making the following updates to the crowdfunding campaign:

The important bits:

  • Crowdfunding phase for the event has been shortened from 25 June 2026 to 1 June 2026. Day Pass rego will be available after crowdfunding phase closes and attendees will be able to pre-fill for Day Passes starting 13 May 2026.
  • Sponsor, Super Sponsor, and Ultra Sponsor tiers will keep their current price points and inclusions. Those tiers are guaranteed to be available until 1 June 2026.
  • Standard, Supporter, and Super Supporter tiers will be broken down into a single Day Pass Rego tier with all the inclusions from Standard, Supporter, and Super Supporter rego available as add-ons to effectively lower the price of entry for all community members starting 1 June 2026.
  • Day Passes will be available starting 1 June 2026 starting at 495 PHP* with add-ons for inclusions from Standard to Super Supporter tier available.
  • Dealers Den starting prices have been reduced down to 1,895 PHP* and responses to applications will be sent out starting 13 May 2026.
  • Clarification that the marketing of Southpaw Furry Weekend has always and still will be planned as a mini-con slightly larger than a cupsleeve event but smaller than a full-size con. This distinction has been blurred in recent marketing pushes, but we plan to keep this key context from here on out.
  • Southpaw Furry Weekend will now be a one-day mini furcon, we are removing the stretch goals in order to ensure that the base experience will be optimal.

The detailed read:

As we burst through the halfway mark for the crowdfunding campaign in twenty-two (22) days which was so much faster than we anticipated thanks to your support, we figured it would be the best time to recalibrate the campaign to ensure that we are able to deliver an optimal first mini furcon for everyone.

Cebu FurSoc launched a feedback form two (2) days ago to gather input from the community in order to guide the direction of the crowdfunding recalibration and we have already received numerous feedback from the general community which helped us formulate this crowdfunding update.

We have received a number of concerns where some attendees have expressed being priced out, and we have reviewed our current finances to see which components we can cut or scale back in order to finalize a Day Pass pricing after the crowdfunding phase ends.

We would like to reiterate that the crowdfunding rego prices has not and were never meant to be permanent. Crowdfunding rego were set as they are in order to help kickstart the event funding and secure the most important things first. Now that we have reached our most important goals, there have been discussions within the staff to finally set a post-crowdfunding phase rego pricing. Staff members have also floated the idea of a lower-cost tier to the community as early as 28 March 2026 in the Cebu FurSoc Telegram chat and we intend to make true on that idea.

By recalibrating contingency funding allocations for a single-day event instead of two days, alongside removing and downsizing event components, we have been able to reduce the cost of a Day Pass by a staggering 61.8% from our current Standard Pricing down to 495 PHP*. The affected event components are as follows:

  • Lights and Sounds budget has been cut to zero as we now plan to use the existing lights and audio infrastructure of the Performing Arts Hall instead of hiring external providers.
  • Tables and Chairs budget has been cut to zero as we also now intend to use the existing tables and chairs available to the Performing Arts Hall instead of hiring from external providers.
  • Dedicated Headless Lounge budget has been cut by 50% as we instead plan to section off a portion of the Performing Arts Hall for an internal Headless Lounge rather than a dedicated room external from the Performing Arts Hall.

We have also lowered the costs of the Day Pass by unpacking tiered inclusions. Even a badge and a conbook are now optional as add-ons in an effort to reduce costs to the attendees. However, to ensure fairness to our early backers, Sponsor, Super Sponsor, and Ultra Sponsor tiers will keep their current pricing and their inclusions cannot be added as add-ons for Day Pass rego holders.

Day Pass holders will have another form of onsite rego identification which will be communicated by 1 June 2026. We are still deciding whether it would be a stamp or a wristband, so let us know your thoughts!

Current Standard rego to Super Supporter rego holders will be sent an email with instructions on how to downgrade and convert their Standard Rego to a Day Pass if they wish on 24 May 2026.

We are also aware of concerns that the Performing Arts Hall may not be cool enough for fursuiters, and we have planned to rent additional air conditioning hours alongside evaporative air conditioning units to assist in cooling down the venue. We have a self-imposed capacity of 180 attendees to help ensure that everyone has enough space and to avoid overpowering the air conditioning units, but we would still advise fursuiters and attendees to bring personal fans and/or cooling vests to help prevent exhaustion and overheating.

In light of the changes to the event duration, we are also adjusting the Dealers Den table pricing starting from 1,895 PHP* instead of 3,299 which assumed a 2nd day stretch goal possibility.

Dealers Den Applications results will be sent out from 13 May 2026.

We will also have an activities schedule rebalancing to ensure that the fun planned for Day 2 can still be done at the day of the con! Stay tuned for the new schedule release!
